HCS HB 138, introduced by Representative Bill Kidd (Republican - District 20) prohibits health care facilities from instituting a Do No Resuscitate Order (DNR) on a child without the permission of a parent or legal guardian.  This bill provides the power to determine if lifesaving measures should be taken to be decided by a child's parent, not unilaterally by a doctor as is currently the case.  This is one of those bills that sounds like it would be unnecessary, but unfortunately situations in which it would apply are not uncommon.  This was a very good bill that protects both life and parental authority.  I voted yes, as did the every single other House member present, making it the first bill to pass unanimously since I took office.did the every single other House member present
