03/07/19 -- HB 587 -- Repeals the Treated Timber Law

Bill Number:
HB 587
Bill Purpose:
Repeals the Treated Timber Law
Date of Vote:
03/07/19
My Vote:
Yes
Explanation:

HB 587, introduced by Representative Don Rone (Republican - District 149) does only one thing: it repeals the "Treated Timber Law" that inspects and certified treated wood products.  Apparently there is already a major industry association that does this same thing privately, so there is no longer a need for this program.  Additionally, the program's fees are insufficient to cover the costs of running it, meaning a repeal would save the State money.  This was an easy "yes" vote.  Apparently, it was easy for everyone else as well, as it passed unanimously.
